Rambus acquires intellectual property from GDA Technologies ,
April 21, 2005

Technology licensing company Rambus Inc. says it's bought digital core intellectual property (IP) assets from GDA Technologies Inc. Terms of the transaction were not revealed.

Rambus (NASDAQ: RMBS) of Los Altos says the deal provides it with digital controller IP to complement its existing line of high-speed interface physical (PHY) layer products. Specifically, Rambus is acquiring digital core IP compatible with PCI Express, Ethernet, SPI-4, USB and SATA protocols, as well as products that are currently in development and will be made available based on customer demand.

Rambus says it will be extending offers to a number of GDA Technologies employees, both in San Jose and in Bangalore, India, that are affiliated with the design and development of the digital IP cores.

"This agreement enables us to focus and scale our business, while Rambus can focus on delivering a strong product road map of integrated controller and PHY solutions," says A.G. Karunakaran, president of privately held GDA Technologies of San Jose.

"We are very excited to partner with a larger IP company that is focused on providing the industry with high-speed interface designs that solve its customers' challenges."
