Security IP Core – AES
Comprehensive (128,192,256)
Optimized for Area
FIPS 197 Compliant
Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) also known as Rijndael cipher was standardized by NIST in 2001 and published in FIPS 197. It is listed among the NSA Suite B list of secure algorithms. AES is a symmetric-key block cipher that operates on 128s-bit blocks of data. The key sizes vary according to the security level desired. The available key sizes are 128-bits, 192-bits and 256-bits respectively.
The AES IP Core performs Encryption and Decryption. The Key Expansion function generates round keys to be applied to the Encryption or Decryption module. The core also supports CBC, CTR, OFB, and CFB modes of operation. All the configurations of AES have been cross-verified with a C-model using a Verilog PLI test environment. The functionality was verified using NIST test vectors. The cipher modes were tested using SP800-38A test vectors.
AES is regarded as the most popular symmetric key algorithm. [Wiki] The varying levels security offers wide range of applications in wireless and wired communications and specifically in the sectors like banking, telecom, storage, defense, etc.
